You are invited into a structured, human-centred development experience for leaders and the systems they shape.
Why You Are Here
You’ve been invited to support a coaching journey for someone in your organisation.
This space offers just enough context — to orient you, support you, and equip you for this meaningful part of the process.
If you want to go deeper, a short video is available to walk you through what this role entails — and how to make the most of it.

Where are You Involved?

Depending on your Organisation’s configuration of the developmental journey, there may be
between 2 and 4 Sponsor Alignment Sessions
where you play an active role in meeting with the coachee and coach to align on Outcomes, Measures, Feedback and Support for the journey.
The Power of Sponsorship
What you make possible
Journeys like this get results when it is a part of how the organisation learns, reflects, and grows.
Sponsors bring visibility, support, accountability, and alignment to the journey. You don’t need to coach — just support, signal boundaries, and connect.
- Align outcomes, feedback and support to business needs
- Encourage, Check-in and co-enforce journey rules
- Witness, observe and offer insights or feedback
- Create opportunities and support their outcomes
The Developmental Triangle
This is not a performance triangle — it’s developmental.
-
The coachee focuses on learning, reflection, and outcomes.
-
The coach and sponsor focus on holding the shape of the journey: its integrity, rhythm, and purpose.
-
The sponsor also considers how the journey contributes to broader organisational outcomes — without steering or solving.
The top corner — “Journey Outcomes” — belongs to the coachee.
The left side — “Not Ours” — reminds us that neither coach nor sponsor own the coachee’s path.
We hold the space. They walk it.

What You Influence and How
You can influence the journey through:
- Engage at your discretion when included in journey emails
- Respond to feedback given or requested
- Co-create outcomes with business needs in mind
- Invite focus on Business Value from their development
- Ask how it’s going, inquire about how they are applying it at work
- Create opportunities for them to apply their insights
- Respond to requests for support
- Engage when included in reminders, pause requests or termination
Refrain from:
- Replacing this journey with performance management
- Criticising, fixing, telling them what to do (let them struggle, in a good way)
- Be afraid to give feedback
- Ignore reminder emails
- Wait for the coach to tell you to get involved
- Be unprepared for sponsor sessions
- Ignore their feedback
- Be permissive around journey rules

“The Sponsor Relationship is as important to the success of a journey as that of the coach and coachee.”
